Singer Zubeen Garg's arrested bandmate, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, has alleged that the singer's manager, Siddharth Sarma, and festival organiser, Shyamkanu Mahanta, poisoned him and conspired to portray his death as an accident.

According to the testimony of witnesses recorded under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Goswami stated that manager Sarma was staying with them at the Pan Pacific Hotel, and Sarma's behaviour was suspicious before Zubeen's death.

Goswami said that Siddharth Sarma forcibly took control of the boat, causing it to sway dangerously in the middle of the sea, endangering the lives of all passengers.
