World No. 1 ODI batter Shubman Gill is all set to replace Rohit Sharma as the new captain of India’s ODI team. According to a report in the Indian Express and ESPN Cricinfo on Saturday (October 4), Gill will captain India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, but Rohit will be part of the squad along with Virat Kohli.

According to the available information, selectors want Gill to captain Team India in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027, and so, keeping the bigger picture in mind, he will take over the charge from Rohit and resume the new job from the Australia series onwards.
