A Teesside man made a huge life change so he could see his grandchildren grow up. John Stephenson realised something had to change after a life-threatening health scare.
The grandad was was only 48 when he suffered a massive heart attack. It made him realise the damage he was doing to his health by smoking.
He says he now feels "better and healthier" and is encouraging others to follow in his footsteps. John, a Public Health professional who works at Middlesbrough Council , has shared his own story to encourage more people to quit smoking for good.
He said: "All I could imagine was the impact it was going to have on my kids and grandkids. I have now been smoke free for two years and the difference is incredible.
"I feel better and healthier and am enjoying life again – I’m even able
