Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched a scheme to provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to auto, taxi and maxi cab drivers.
The CM, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh took an auto-rickshaw ride after launching the scheme.The program was held at the Basavapunnayya Stadium in Vijayawada’s Singhnagar. In the first year, the government deposited Rs. 436 crore in the accounts of 2,90,669 drivers. 2.64 lakh auto drivers, 20,072 taxi cab drivers, and 6,400 maxi cab drivers will benefit from the program.
The government has set up a system to receive complaints if those who are eligible but do not receive the funds. “Many of the auto drivers are poor. If you give them Rs. 15,000 per year, it will be a relief for them,” CM Naidu said.
