A woman’s body has been pulled from the River Tees. Cleveland Police, Cleveland Fire Brigade and the Tees River Rescue were called to the scene on Saturday, October 4.
Cleveland Police confirmed officers were dealing with the ‘ongoing incident’ shortly after 10am. In a statement, a force spokesperson outlined the incident at Yarm and added that there was a large 999 presence at Preston Park.
“The public is advised to avoid areas around the river wherever possible,” they added. However, in a further update at 1.30pm, the force confirmed the tragic news.
“Following our earlier appeal for the public to avoid the Preston Park area whilst emergency services dealt with an incident, we can now confirm that very sadly the body of a woman has been recovered from the water,” a spokesperson said.
