Much of the attention leading up to Saturday’s showdown between Alabama and Vanderbilt has been on the outspoken Diego Pavia.

The Vanderbilt quarterback has led the Commodores to a 5-0 start, but Desmond Howard re-directed the love to the other sideline.

The ESPN “College GameDay” analyst believes quarterback Ty Simpson might be playing better than anyone else in the country.

“Alabama’s quarterback, Ty Simpson, right now has played himself into the Heisman conversation,” Howard said. “After the Florida State game, this kid has completed 70 percent of his passes, 11 touchdown passes, and he has protected the ball. No turnovers.
