PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A serious crash left a woman dead in north Phoenix late Friday morning.

The collision happened near 18th Street and Greenway Parkway just after 11 a.m. Phoenix police say officers arrived and found a car and a pickup truck involved.

Phoenix Fire transported one woman, identified as 86-year-old Jacqueline Louise Nelson, to a hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries.

Detectives believe Nelson was driving eastbound on Greenway Parkway when she tried to turn left, failed to yield, and collided with the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Phoenix police.

Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor in this collision.
