BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place on Saturday, Oct. 4 around 3:40 a.m.
The shooting took place in the 400 Block of 2nd Avenue North.
According to ALEA, two people were arguing when one of the people, now identified as 51-year-old Quantez Johnson, pulled out a gun during the argument.
ALEA says that a uniformed Birmingham Police officer was working a departmentally approved off-duty security job for a business when the argument happened.
Birmingham Police Officer De’rell Freeman says Johnson was told to drop his gun, however, did not comply, leading to the officer discharging their weapon.
