A Chattanooga man is in custody after police say he carjacked a man and led authorities on a pursuit Friday.

Ke'Andre Jones, 18, approached a man sitting in his car talking on the phone in the 1000 block of Duncan Avenue, according to an affidavit obtained by Local 3 News.

The suspect asked the driver for a ride. When the victim declined, police say he pulled a gun and demanded him to get out of the car. Jones also tried to take the victim's phone, but he "did not cooperate."

Jones took the black Mercedes and left the scene.

Shortly after, an officer with the Chattanooga Police Department saw the car and turned on his emergency lights for a traffic stop.

Jones did not pull over, so a pursuit began.
