The S.S. Badger announced on Saturday, Oct. 3, that it is canceling its Sunday trip across Lake Michigan because of predicted high waves and gale-force winds on the lake.
The National Weather Service is warning of high waves along the Lake Michigan shoreline on Sunday, Oct. 5, because of southwest winds gusting to 25 mph or more. The service is also predicting strong rip currents along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
In addition, gale watches are in effect for the western portion of Lake Superior, along with small craft advisories along the entire Superior shoreline, as well as portions of the Lake Michigan shoreline.
In the area of Muskegon, the weather service said winds on Sunday, Oct. 5, will be about 10 mph, but gusts will be 21-25 mph. At Ludington , where the Badger docks, w
