SCRANTON, Pa. — Hundreds of runners and walkers took to Nay Aug Park in Lackawanna County Saturday morning for the annual 5Kate Run put on by The Katie Foundation. Each person is here to support those struggling with mental illness.

Katie's sister-in-law and counselor at The Katie Foundation, Sarah Shoener, organizes the run.

"I can't believe that it's been 10 years already. The fact that the same people, the same runners, show up year after year to support us means so much to our family. It feels so great that they're out here to support us every single year," says Shoener.

In its 10th year, organizers say the 5Kate run is to honor the late Katie Shoener, a young woman who family members say lost her battle with bipolar disorder.
