(FOX40.COM) — A Yuba County Correctional Officer was arrested for sexual misconduct by the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.

A female inmate housed at the Yuba County Jail reported to jail staff that a correctional officer had sexually assaulted her.

An investigation found that Correctional Officer Matthew Babb had removed the inmate from her housing unit on the grounds of a medical appointment. Instead, the sheriff's office said that they discovered that Babb transported the inmate off grounds to a location in Olivehurst, where sexual misconduct occurred.

Surveillance footage and witness statements were gathered during the investigation that confirmed that the officer transported the inmate to multiple locations
