NORMAL, Ill. — No. 1-ranked North Dakota State scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to earn a 33-16 victory against No. 6-ranked Illinois State on Saturday in Missouri Valley Football Conference play at Hancock Stadium.

NDSU (5-0, 2-0 MVFC) remained unbeaten with its first conference road win this season. Bison quarterback Cole Payton completed 12 of 14 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 79 yards and a TD.

Running back Barika Kpeenu rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts the pace the NDSU ground game.

Bison safety Ryan Jones added a fourth-quarter interception.
