LANCASTER, S.C. — A Lancaster man's Friday payday ritual of buying lottery tickets resulted in a $2.5 million prize in September.

“I’ve got a ritual,” he explained to lottery officials. “On Fridays when I get paid, I buy a couple of tickets. I’m responsible and only play on Fridays.”

He won the prize on a $20 Magnificent Jumbo Bucks scratch-off ticket purchased at Community Discount Beverage in Lancaster.

The winner said he checked the ticket multiple times to confirm his prize.

“I think I looked at it 10 different times,” he said.

He also took a photo of the scratch-off with his phone and zoomed in to verify the numbers matched.

“I’m not living like I’m broke,” he laughed. “No seriously, I’m going to go about it the right way.”
