LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Community action groups in Jeffersonville are working to build pressure against Meta.

Their goal: to stop an $800 million data center from being built in the River Ridge Commerce Center.

Meta announced its plans to build the data center in January 2024 , which will help power the company’s platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

At the time, Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore called the project an investment in the community.

“The economic activity around this new data center will support every sector of our economy, and we appreciate all those who have worked to bring Meta to Jeffersonville,” Moore said.

But the Hoosier Action and Clark County Moms’ Saturday meeting brought community members together for a discussion focused on potential harms
