A mum was caught passing drugs to her rapist son during a visit at a North East prison. Emily Wilson was spotted by HMP Northumberland prison guards handing over Pregabalin and Buprenorphine to James Wilson, who is currently serving a 12-year sentence for sexual and violent offences.
A court heard that the 50-year-old smuggled the drugs into the jail because James had built up debts inside and had been receiving threats from fellow inmates as a result. But the pair's suspicious conduct came to the attention of prison guards, who witnessed Wilson passing the drugs across the table to her son and him then concealing the packets between his legs.
South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court was told that the Pregabalin and Buprenorphine were recovered and Wilson immediately showed remorse.
