Multiple shots have been fired after a man lunged at police with a knife outside a Sunshine Coast police station.
Two officers were returning to the Maroochydore Police Station carpark about 8.50pm on Friday when a white Mercedes sedan rammed into the rear of the police car they were travelling in.
The driver of the Mercedes then exited the vehicle and allegedly threatened the officers with a knife before lunging at them.
Police fired approximately five shots at the man before he was subdued with a taser by a third officer.
A 53-year-old Eumundi man was arrested and has been charged with endangering a police officer, going armed to cause fear, and possession of a weapon amongst other offences.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on
