CHICAGO (WGN) — Three people are in the hospital after an apartment fire on the South Side early Sunday morning, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

CFD said a Still and Box EMS Plan 1 was struck out and secured around 5:10 a.m. in the 1900 block of East 73rd Place in the South Shore neighborhood.

Two females were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, while one male was also taken to the same hospital in stable-to-serious condition.

A Still and Box alarm involves four fire engines, two fire trucks, a Tower Ladder, one Squad, three Battalion Chiefs, a Deputy District Chief, one Command Van, one Ambulance, one OFI Car and an EMS Field Officer.
