MORNING SUN, Iowa (KCRG) - Current dry and windy conditions in eastern Iowa can cause fires to start and spread quickly.
As of Sunday morning, three counties are under a burn ban: Cedar, Clinton, and Scott.
A cornfield caught fire Saturday around 1 p.m. near Morning Sun, which is in Louisa County.
Photos posted to the Morning Sun Fire Department’s Facebook page show how the fire spread.
First responders arrived and found 40 acres of the field were on fire. It took about 45 minutes to control the fire.
Firefighters believe an overheated piece of equipment from a combine sparked the fire.
Louisa County does not currently have a burn ban.
