CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Thousands of people took to the streets of downtown Cedar Rapids on Sunday morning, for the annual Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer.
A record-breaking 16,682 people ran or walked in the race.
More than 900 of them were breast cancer survivors, who were honored with a pink scarf to wear during the race.
One of the survivors was Stephanie Workman, who was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in 2023.
She was sick the last two years to attend the annual race, but this year she was there.
“We’re fighting, we’re walking together, and it’s a beautiful thing,” Workman said.
The race raised more than $500,000 to help those in need access cancer screenings and services.
