MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man was left injured after being shot several times overnight in North Memphis, police say.

Officers say they responded to Regional One Hospital regarding a shooting that took place on North Evergreen Street and Hunter Avenue.

A witness told police it started on Sunday around 11:50 p.m., when the victim was visiting his cousin. The witness states that they were in the street, talking in front of the apartment complex.

Shortly afterwards, the witness says the victim and suspect got into a fight with each other. A third person allegedly showed up and attempted to break up the fight.
