KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI – A 65-year-old man was injured on Sunday, Oct. 5, after he was hit by gunfire, Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies reported.

The man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police have identified a suspect and the weapon used has been recovered.

A shooting was reported around 11:18 a.m. in the 10000 block of East D Avenue in Richland Township.

Deputies arrived and found the man with a gunshot wound to the neck. The man was initially treated by Richland Township rescue personal on scene and then was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

Police did not release details about the suspect, however, the shooting remains under investigation.
