A 51-year-old man is in critical condition after he was ejected while riding his electric scooter Saturday night in the Kalihi area.

At about 7:48 p.m. Saturday, Honolulu police reported a man on electric scooter was traveling eastbound on North King Street when he lost control for unknown reasons and collided with a roadway stanchion and ejected onto the raised center median.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services transported him to the hospital in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to police.

At this time, police reported neither speed, drugs nor alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
