A crowd of more than 100 masked people attacked marked police cars with fireworks in Randolph on Sunday, according to the city’s police department .
Police responded to reports of a large-scale vehicle takeover at the intersection of Oak Street and North Main Street in Randolph at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Randolph police said in a release.
When they arrived, the crowd began hitting the cruisers with their fists and other objects before setting off fireworks, police said.
“This was carried out by individuals who were concealing their faces with masks and videotaping themselves,” police said. “These individuals continued and sat on the hoods of the cruiser and lit fireworks off, placing the officer inside in extreme danger.”
