Greta Thunberg, the renowned environmental activist, is believed to have alleged harsh treatment whilst in Israeli custody following her arrest and removal from a flotilla delivering aid to Gaza.

The current status of the young campaigner's detention remains uncertain. However, an email dispatched by Sweden's foreign ministry to those close to her outlines allegations of substandard conditions and mistreatment subsequent to her arrest.

The email cites a Swedish embassy official who visited Thunberg in prison, reporting that she claimed to have been confined in a cell riddled with bed bugs, provided with inadequate food and water, and left to sit for extended periods on hard surfaces.
