MADISON, (WKOW) — National Fire Prevention Week kicked off with a vibrant parade up State Street on Sunday.

Fire trucks and emergency vehicles from across the area were showcased, drawing attention to fire safety. Residents had the opportunity to interact with local firefighters and learn about fire prevention as the apparatus were displayed around Capitol Square. Chris Loy, captain with McFarland Fire Rescue, said the event aimed to raise awareness and strengthen community ties.

“Today’s beginning of National Fire Prevention Week, and we wanted to kick off fire prevention week with a parade up State Street, and all of the apparatus that participated in the parade are on display around the Capitol Square to interact with the community and preach the good word about fire prevention,” Loy
