Sydney's rental crisis has been exposed in an alarming video showing a long queue of prospective tenants at a property inspection in the eastern suburbs.

The video shows several hopeful renters giving up their weekend to view a two-bedroom apartment in Bondi.

More than a hundred people turned up for the inspection in one of the city's most affluent areas.

The apartment, available to rent for $800 per week, was extremely popular and highlights the difficulties faced by renters looking to move to the eastern suburbs for the summer.

Local buyer's agent Maxwell Munro, who sent the clip into Instagram page Bronte Local , said the shocking scene was not surprising.
