About one in five Aussies have no clue about how large their nest egg is as millions have been urged to check their annual superannuation statement.

Financial comparison site Canstar.com.au has reminded Aussies about the importance of checking their statements which are typically released this time of year.

It features employer contributions, personal details, annual returns, fees, mix of investments and more details crucial for the strength of a superannuation fund.

However, a fresh survey by Canstar.com.au of more than 3000 adults found that about 20 per cent of Australians check their super just once every few years, or never at all.
