GRUNDY CENTER, Iowa —

Two people, including an Iowa State Patrol trooper, were injured after a high-speed chase ended in a crash in Grundy Center this weekend.

The chase began at a gas station around 9 p.m. on Saturday when 24-year-old Cory Devries led police on a pursuit, reaching speeds of over 120 miles per hour.

Nine miles north of Grundy Center near Highway 20, a Black Hawk County deputy deployed stop sticks, flattening three of Devries' tires. Devries continued driving until he reached Highway 63, where he collided head-on with an Iowa State Patrol vehicle.

The trooper was taken to a Waterloo hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Devries was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals by helicopter with serious injuries.
