Queen Camilla is said to have caused tension behind palace walls after pressing her husband, King Charles III, to include a new library in the Buckingham Palace overhaul.
The lavish £369 million (about AUD $751 million) refurbishment of Their Majesties' official London residence began in 2017 and was expected to take a decade to complete.
Funded by a temporary boost to the Sovereign Grant, the overhaul aims to replace ageing 1950s electrical and plumbing systems to reduce fire and flood risk and ensure the Palace remains functional for another half-century.
