Ten years and just over two weeks ago, Hugh Freeze completed his magnum opus.
His Ole Miss team marched into Bryant-Denny Stadium and scored 43 points as the Rebels scored a second straight win over Alabama. That came at a time when wins over Alabama were extremely rare, and beating the Crimson Tide two years in a row was almost unheard of.
Ten years later, and with his Auburn job under more pressure than ever, Freeze is hoping to re-discover some of that magic ahead of what could be the most important game of his tenure on the Plains.
It’s not against the Nick Saban-led Alabama machine, but he’s tasked with taking down what might be the closest thing to mid 2010s Alabama that 2025 has to offer: the Kirby Smart-led Georgia Bulldogs.
