Police are looking for an SUV driver who ran a red light and fatally struck a Brooklyn woman just steps from her home over the weekend, according to NYPD officials.
Officials said 75-year-old Judith Byron was crossing Seventh Avenue at 41st Street in Sunset Park with a walk signal around 9:30 p.m. when the driver blew through a “steady red light” and hit her. Police said the driver, who had been going northbound, fled the scene after the collision.
Byron lived down the block from where she was killed, according to the NYPD. Police said early Monday they did not yet have a specific description or license plate number for the SUV, but noted it was possibly silver.
