Portland will see clear skies and warm early fall temperatures Monday as high temps climb well above average.

The National Weather Service expects another windy day on the east side of the metro area with peak gusts across the Cascades in the 25-30 mph range and stronger winds in the western part of the Columbia River Gorge at 35-40 mph at times.

Portland will see sunny skies and gusty winds up to 20 mph in areas west of the mouth of the gorge. Monday’s high temp will be about five degrees above average reaching near 76.

The weather service expects winds to die down in most areas during the overnight hours due to the break down in the current thermal trough.
