BIDDEFORD, Maine — A boat storage facility in Biddeford was heavily damaged Monday morning when a fire broke out shortly before 8 a.m.
State fire officials said the fire started around 7:46 a.m. at a property used by Kennebunkport Marina for boat storage, the Maine Department of Public Safety said in a press release.
Investigators said the blaze originated in one stored boat and spread to at least one other, causing damage to the facility.
Biddeford Fire Chief Lawrence Best said the fire went through the roof, creating a significant hole in the vinyl-type roofing. Best said smoke was visible upon arrival, with flames appearing shortly after they were at the scene.
A worker suffered minor injuries but apparently refused treatment, the Biddeford Fire Department told NEWS CENTER Maine.
