TOPSHAM, Maine — A 23-year-old man from Topsham was killed and two other people were seriously injured Saturday night in a head-on crash on Route 196 near the Merrymeeting Bridge, according to the Topsham Police Department.
Police said in a news release officers and rescue personnel responded around 10:38 p.m. and found a gray 2020 GMC pickup and a white 2019 Volvo SUV, both heavily damaged.
First responders performed life-saving measures on a passenger in the Volvo, who was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick where he later died.
The passenger was identified Monday as 23-year-old Marcus Steinman of Topsham.
The driver of the GMC, 34-year-old Joseph Lemont of Bowdoin, and the driver of the Volvo, 25-year-old Lacey Wiles, were both seriously injured and were taken to Maine Medical
