CLEVELAND (WJW) -- Did a Cleveland-area charity break a Guinness world record this weekend?

On Saturday, local charity Walls of Love collected thousands of socks in Cleveland. They had so much help from the community, including big donations from Right At School and Lorain City School District.

Students enrolled in 20 Right at School programs in and around Cleveland were all encouraged to bring new socks for toddlers, children, men or women. The students also decorated donation bins and spread the word to their classmates.

The official Guinness World Record will be for the number of pairs of socks donated for a charitable cause in one hour.

The goal from Guinness was to collect 2,500 pairs of socks in one hour, but Walls of Love blew well past
