Renowned folk singer Maithili Thakur is likely to contest the Bihar election from the Alinagar seat in the Darbhanga region. Ahead of the Bihar poll date announcement, she met BJP election in-charge Vinod Tawde and Union Minister Nityanand Rai, setting the rumour mill abuzz over whether the party will field her in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Sharing the photos of the meeting on his X handle on Sunday, Tawde said that the singer and her family had left Bihar in 1995 during Lalu Prasad Yadav's rule. He went on to say that the same daughter, now, wants to return, seeing the progress of Bihar.
