JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCSC) - A Charleston County man has been arrested and is facing nearly a dozen charges accusing him of sexually exploiting children.
John Lewis Cottrell, III, 45, of Johns Island, has been charged with 10 counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, which is leading the prosecution of this case, said investigators for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tip that led them to Cottrell.
Investigators say Cottrell is facing these charges specifically for producing child sexual abuse materials.
