CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- An 18-year-old is sitting behind bars after he was accused of stabbing and killing his stepfather in Waldorf, detailed the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

On Oct. 3, around 8:43 p.m., deputies were called to the 9700 block of Orkney Place for the report of a stabbing. Officials said a man, later identified as Sean Smith, called 911 and reported that he had stabbed his stepfather.

Once on the scene, deputies found 45-year-old Damian Hodges, of Waldorf, who had been stabbed repeatedly. Medics tried to save Hodges, but he died at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Smith and Hodges were arguing when the stabbing took place.

Deputies charged Smith with first- and second-degree murder and other related charges.
