A 15-year-old boy is dead and another teen is fighting for his life after a shooting shook a residential area of Soperton on Sunday afternoon .

The violence erupted between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. on New Street, where police say both victims were shot.

According to 13WMAZ , Soperton Police Chief Brian Scott confirmed officers responded quickly to the scene, but the 15-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after 4:35 p.m. by Treutlen County Coroner Greg Higgs.

A 17-year-old boy was also found with serious injuries and was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia before being airlifted to a trauma center. His condition has not been publicly released.
