Two women have gone on trial accused of stalking the family of missing Madeleine McCann.

Polish national Julia Wandelt and Karen Spragg, of Caerau in Cardiff, are accused of stalking of the McCann family. Wandelt, 24, is alleged to have stalked Maddie's mum Kate, dad Gerry, and younger siblings Sean and Amelie McCann and is alleged to have attended the family home. She is also accused of sending a letter, calls, voicemails and WhatsApp messages to Kate and Gerry McCann, and sending Amelie and Sean McCann Instagram messages.

Spragg, 61, is accused of one count of stalking involving serious alarm or distress. She is alleged to have made calls, sent letters and attended the home address of Mr and Mrs McCann, between June 2022 and February 2025. Madeleine's disappearance at the age of three
