A search team of state troopers, police officers and first responders successfully rescued a pilot who’d crashed in a heavily wooded area of Orange County.The pilot of the Lancair fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft is still alive and being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, Oct. 5, around 10 p.m., the Indiana State Police (ISP) received a call from the Louisville International Airport and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) saying they had lost contact with a single-engine aircraft somewhere near the Orange County and Lawrence County line.
