BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti expects starting cornerback D'Angelo Ponds to return to the lineup against No. 2 Oregon this weekend.

The preseason All-American missed the Iowa game with an apparent lower body injury. He worked with trainers during early pre-game warmups and dressed out, but was replaced in the starting lineup by Pitt transfer Ryland Gandy.

"I expect Ponds to be fine and play," Cignetti said on Monday.

Ponds has 11 tackles (10 solo) with three for a loss and one interception this season. He provided a spark for IU in a 63-10 win over Illinois by blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown . The shutdown corner has only allowed nine receptions on 15 targets for 55 yards, per Pro Football Focus.
