Three young adults were injured in a plane crash near the McGregor Airport in Aitkin County on Sunday, according to authorities.

The Aikin County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. after the plane, a Piper PA-28 140, seemingly lost power shortly after takeoff.

According to the sheriff's office, the plane went down in a swampy area about a half-mile short of the runway as the pilot attempted to return to the airport.

All three occupants were injured and one passenger was airlifted to the hospital, but all are reported to be in stable condition as of Monday.

The occupants have been identified as a 23-year-old Ham Lake man, 22-year-old New Richmond man and 23-year-old Ham Lake woman.
