Crisp temperatures and, hopefully, clear skies will make for perfect viewing conditions of a few night sky events this month.
October's full moon, which is nicknamed the Harvest Moon, peaks the night of Oct. 6. The moon is officially "full" at 11:49 p.m. The Harvest Moon can occur in either September or October, whichever aligns closest to the autumnal equinox.
This is also the first supermoon of 2025. A supermoon occurs when the moon is full and at its closest point in its orbit around Earth. The next four full moons will be supermoons.
Along with the Harvest Moon, eagle-eyed sky gazers may see the first of two October meteor showers.
