Gallatin County, Ky. (WXIX) - The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office is cracking down on distracted driving, speeding and driving under the influence through a grant they just received from the state.

Sheriff Bud Webster said this comes after residents called for their highways and interstates to be safer. The Sheriff said the county didn’t have the resources to fix the problem, so he went digging for a solution and found this grant.

“It’s all for safety. The last thing we want to do is a death notification to someone’s family because they were hit by a drunk driver or speeder,” Webster explained.

Distracted driving, driving under the influence and speeding are preventable factors that often lead to crashes and plague roadways around the country.
