DARTMOUTH — The spectacular explosion that rocked a quiet Dartmouth neighborhood just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 2 was allegedly caused when a cigarette touched off fireworks.

That’s what Kevin Ruiz, 54, who was living in the garage at 20 Sagamore Drive where the explosion took place, told a Dartmouth police officer and an EMT.
