If a fortune teller told the 49ers back in August that they would have no rushing touchdowns and no interceptions through five games to start the 2025 NFL season, the team probably wouldn't expect the record it has now.

Instead, a resilient San Francisco squad has jumped out to a 4-1 start despite just that, setting the team up nicely for when those facets of its game eventually do come around.

But that very rarely is the case if you go off the historical data, as pointed out by Josh Dubow of the Associated Press:

Not only are the 49ers just one of several teams to start 4-1 without a rushing touchdown or interception, but they also are the only team since at least 1940 -- ever -- to not record either through the first five games of an NFL season.
