A man was arrested in connection with a 'serious' assault, months after the attack left a victim hospitalised.

The 40-year-old man was charged in connection with the attack which took place on Clerk Street about two months ago on August 12.

He is set to appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, October 7.

A male victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment following the August attack.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault which happened on Clerk Street, Edinburgh on Tuesday, 12 August, 2025.

"One man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

"The 40-year-old man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 7 October, 2025."
