BOSTON — Red Sox rookie catcher Carlos Narváez will undergo a meniscus procedure after playing through a knee injury for a period of time this season.
“Narvi is going to have his meniscus cleaned up this week,” chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Monday at Fenway Park.
Breslow said he does not have an exact timeline on how long Narváez played through the injury. The 26-year-old underwent testing in early August . He did not play three straight games (Aug. 6, Aug. 8-9) while dealing with the issue.
